DEPARTMENT OF APPLIED MATHEMATICS AND COMPUTER SCIENCES


Department of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science was founded in 1963. Its foundation was caused by growth of importance of computer science and cybernetics all over the world, as well as by achievements of Georgian Mathematics and Physics scientists. Department was first subdivision of that kind in institutions of higher education in FSU. 

Department represents the subdivision of University where teaching process is united with scientific research. After completion of courses at the department students receive degrees of Bachelor, Master or Ph.D., in the following fields: Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technologies, Management, Structural Linguistics. All level graduates receive strong mathematical background and programming skills. This is stipulated by high expert level of faculty and regular renewal of teaching programs, especially in modern computer technologies. 
Several scientific laboratories in corresponding fields exist at the Department, which provide modern level of scientific research. This is partially proved by works in native and international publishers. 

There are seven chairs functioning at the department: 

  • Chair of Applied Informatics 

  • Chair of Control Theory 

  • Chair of Cybernetics 

  • Chair of Mathematics 

  • Chair of Computer Software and Information Technologies 

  • Chair of Structural and Applied Linguistics 

  • Chair of Theory of Random Processes
